Many of my patients know that I am a Civil War “buff.” I just finished reading Cokie Robert’s book
Capital Dames. I was not only educated as to the role of the women of Washington, D.C., but also completely impressed with the contributions they made during and after the war.
Having read many accounts of the war, and being the father of two daughters, I can honestly say that this is the first book to honor the women who changed not only Washington, D.C., but also the role of women in our country.
Thank you, Cokie Roberts!
